Burgas is a big city with the sea in the centre, so people pick accommodation by district: near the seafront and the Sea Garden, by the airport or in a quiet area.

🏛

Centre

Hotels, sights, nightlife and transport are here. You can walk to the Sea Garden and the sea. Good if you came without a car.

The resorts of the bay and the south are not the same. Some are loud and seasonal, others quiet and historic. Choose by the kind of holiday you want.

🎉

Sunny Beach

The loudest resort: the season runs roughly from late May to mid-September. Nightlife centres on the Boulevard and Flower Street. A 3★ double with breakfast is about €20 in spring and September and about €40 in high season (Wikivoyage estimate). You hardly need a car.

🏺

Nessebar

The old town is a UNESCO site with narrow cobbled streets: leave the car outside and walk. Most accommodation near Nessebar is in Sunny Beach.

UNESCO
🧂

Pomorie

About 14 km north-east of Burgas, roughly 20 km by road to the centre. An old town, a fishing port, the Pomorie Lake lagoon with salt and healing mud, and the Salt Museum.

Sozopol

35 km from Burgas. The guide suggests staying in the old town: you can walk to cafés and shops. Many restaurants turn into clubs at night. Taxi fares at night are often inflated, so agree the price first. The Apollonia arts festival is in early September.
