Sunny Beach from Burgas: how to get there and what to do
Sunny Beach is the biggest beach resort in Bulgaria, for those who like lively holidays: lots of bars, water parks and water sports schools. It is about 35–42 km from Burgas.

Getting there from Burgas
Bus from the South bus station
The coastal route via Pomorie, Aheloy and Ravda takes about 70 minutes, 24 trips a day from 6:10 to 22:05. A second route via Kableshkovo takes about 50 minutes. A ticket costs about €3–4; sources differ.
By car
About 35–42 km from Burgas. In the resort itself you hardly need a car: everything is close.
From Burgas airport
About 35 km, 25–40 minutes by car; we did not find a price for this route, so ask when booking. By bus: no. 15 to the South station takes 25–30 minutes, then a coastal bus about 45–60 minutes (one estimate), so from 1.5 hours without waiting. There are no night services.
Between resorts
Local buses run between Nessebar, Sunny Beach and Ravda about every 15 minutes.

The beach
The country’s largest resort in the middle of Nessebar Bay. A wide beach, many hotels, restaurants and entertainment.
Water parks
Action Aquapark in the western part of Sunny Beach on a site of about 24,000 m². Aqua Paradise is in the Nessebar area.
Nessebar next door
The UNESCO old town is very close: easy to combine the sea with a walk through the town.
Sveti Vlas
At the foot of the southern slopes of the Balkan Mountains. Calmer and quieter than Nessebar and Sunny Beach.
Ravda and Aheloy
Ravda lies between Nessebar and Aheloy: one continuous resort area together with Sunny Beach. Aheloy is further south.

Beaches and the sea
North and South
Both beaches received the Blue Flag in 2021, as did the Central one. The length is estimated differently, from 4.5 to 8 km. The Blue Flag list is updated every year.
With children
A sandy beach and the Action Aquapark in the western part of the resort.

Tips
Nightlife
The main nightlife is on the Boulevard and on Tsvetna Street. If you want quiet, choose Sveti Vlas or Pomorie.
Price guide
A 3★ room with breakfast: about €20 in spring and September and about €40 in high season (Wikivoyage estimate). A sunbed is about €5.
Safety
Do not take valuables to the beach. There are more thefts on the Nessebar – Sunny Beach bus line. Tourists were overcharged in clubs: choose places recommended by your hotel and pay by card in your presence.

Big hotels are far from the stops: ask in advance where you will be dropped off.
